One of the things I've been up to...

Pear jelly, peach jelly, peach jam, and sliced peaches. (Oh, sliced pears from the day before, my friend Christy and I have been canning together too). I started around 2 in the afternoon, finished almost 9 that night! Sheesh, it's a lot of work, but hey, I enjoy it!

Little broken leg

WARNING: long and detailed post (I know weird for me!)

So, we went to the park the day before St. Patty's day. Chad had the day off (actually 2 weeks, due to no jobs at work) so we picked Lu up from pre-school, grabbed a sandwich at Mr. Goodcents, quick stop by Target then off to the park. We walked up to the playground and I actually noticed rocks all over the spongy stuff (that's suppose to be there for when kids fall) and kinda had a bad feeling about it. The girls played in the rocks, Chad chased Lu around, then we were by these dinosaurs the kids can climb on. Kate started to run towards one, she slipped and fell and started crying. I ran over to get her and then I sat down to see what was up. She kept grabbing her ankle, so we thought she hurt her ankle, then I pulled her pant leg up. There was a big bruise starting to form right in the middle of her leg so we headed for the car. I had packed a baggie with ice cubes in it to keep our pops cold, so I put that on her leg and she calmed down a tiny bit. Chad drove home and she wanted to hold my hand the whole way. She even started to fall asleep (actually pass out from the shock now I know when I think back). When we got home we watched cartoons and she fell asleep on me for a little while. We didn't think her leg was broken, the bone wasn't coming out or anything (I don't know how I'd of handled that!) but she wouldn't walk on her leg for a day and a half, and she cried every time we moved her, so I called the doctor's office on Friday and took her right in. It's weird because the bruise was totally gone, and it wasn't even swollen anymore, but they took an x-ray and sure enough it was broken. They told me it was a stress fracture. I felt pretty terrible for not taking her in sooner, but I'm glad we didn't wait 'till after the weekend or something. The girls and I grabbed some lunch, drive through of course and ate in the car. Like I said she was OK if we didn't move her. So we went home, Chad called our friend Ray to see if he could hang out with Lu until he got home so I could take Kate to get her cast on. I drove all the way to Lafayette, which took about 25 minutes to get to. Kate did so awesome! She really impressed me with how well she handled it. She cried a little when they were putting the cast on but that was it! It was like an instant relief for her too. She was so cute telling the nurse the story of how it happened. On the way home she told me her leg felt better and that they were very gentle and nice at the doctor's office. They bent the cast on purpose so she wouldn't try to walk on it, we'll see. She has to have the cast on for 4 weeks.

Since we've been home she has been scooting to get around, and she gets a little grumpy and demanding sometimes when she needs us to carry her or get something for her. She'll be back to herself in no time!

This was right after we got home. (She's a silly one!)

Poor little bone!

June blocks for quilting newbees

Elizabeth wanted stars for her month. It was pretty fun, we got to pick out what blocks we wanted. The top one is a wonky star, I sort of messed up one side and had to fix it with limited fabric, but I think it added to the "wonkyness" of it! The other is a bridle path pattern, I like this one, I'll have to be more careful to try to line up the corners next time though.:s I absolutely love her fabric choices and will have find some for myself!

May blocks for Alek- Modified Bentos

quartered and sewed back together.
before being quartered!
These blocks were fun, but a little tricky at times! They wern't quite big enough, so I had to piece the scraps I had left to make the outer most edge. I hope Alek likes them!

So, the next few weeks are going to be a little crazy around here. I need to sew this I-spy quilt together for Kate's birthday (2 weeks from Monday), make my mother-in-law's mother's day gift, a journal jar (sent my mom's a couple of days ago, hope she gets hers in time!!!), and make my good friend's baby a blanket, she didn't find out what she was having and she had a little boy on Tuesday. My brother is also visiting for a few weeks, then he will drive with the girls and me to Utah for our nephew's high school graduation. He is getting my garden prepped, even making garden boxes for me, and doing our landscaping! Busy busy busy!
